ActionPhysiotherapy.co.uk came about by chance. A friend had been to the local physio with regards to a sporting injury, and during conversation the physio discussed how they were looking into getting a simple company website with contact details etc. When they had said that the problem had been that most web design firms were prohibitively expensive for small companies like themselves who just wanted a few pages, my friend suggested that get in touch with me.
The original remit was to have a simple two or three page site with brief information on their physiotherapy practice, contact phone numbers, and maybe a picture map of how to get to their two locations. I presented them with a mock-up of what could be achieved (which visually was similar to the final design), we agreed a fixed price for the design, and work began. In the process, I regularly emailed the client with links to the latest design, changed things quickly and easily to what they wanted, and working together we expanded the site with extra content such as Google Maps integration for getting to the practices, a Frequently Asked Questions section to encourage people that getting treatment from Action Physiotherapy would be right for them, as well as the basics.
The site was designed using off-the-shelf free tools, available from the internet, and was designed in such a way so that the client would be able to continue the design work themselves (with a bit of learning!) without having to pay extra for ongoing support etc.
The site was completed quicky, going through the process of choosing a host, getting the site up etc, with the client being very happy with the end product. I regularly check on the site, adding improvements such as Google Analytics to track the visitors to the site, to know how well its performing for the client.
